Fluoride removal from natural waters by polymer inclusion membranes

چکیده

A polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) containing commercial ionic liquid methyltrioctylammonium chloride (Aliquat 336) as a carrier and cellulose triacetate (CTA) base has been used for the first time to remove fluoride from natural waters. Due anion-exchange characteristics of carrier, 1 M NaCl solution receiving phase. It found that addition tributyl phosphate (TBP) in formulation PIM increased membrane's performance. Several parameters have investigated using made 30% CTA, 50% Aliquat 336, 20% TBP (% mass) including effect other ions such sulphate pH. Only when feed phase contains high amounts (concentration 10 times higher than fluoride) slight decrease on PIM's efficiency is observed (85% defluoridation). The separation system developed here satisfactorily removal different naturally occurring Moreover, reusability also investigated, showing can be four cycles without loss removing fluoride.

Fluoride Removal from Aqueous Solutions by NaOH-Modified Eucalyptus Leaves

Introduction: Fluoride (F) and its compounds are widely used in industries in which fluoride overdose leads to various detrimental diseases. In this study the effect of NaOH-modified Eucalyptus leaves on fluoride removal from aqueous solutions as a natural adsorbent was investigated. Materials and Methods: The focus of this study was on the effects of parameters such as pH (2-12), initial conc...

Metals Ions Removal by Polymer Membranes of Different Porosity

The effect of the amount of pore generating agent (polyvinylpyrrolidone) added to standard polymer membranes containing 18 wt.% of polyethersulfone on the physicochemical properties of the membranes and their capacity for removal of iron and copper ions from the liquid phase was studied. The membranes were obtained by the phase inversion method. The results have shown that the modification of p...

Removal of natural organic matter from aqueous solutions by electrocoagulation

Natural organic matter (NOM) affects some qualitative parameters of water such as color. In addition, it can deteriorate the performance of water treatment process including coagulation, adsorption, and membranes. NOM also reacts with chlorine in the chlorination process and may form disinfection by-products. The present study was carried out in laboratory-scale in a batch system using a cylind...

Removal of methyl tert-butyl ether from water by pervaporation using ceramic-supported polymer membranes

Pervaporation removal of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) from dilute aqueous solutions was demonstrated using ceramic-supported polymer (CSP) membranes. These membranes were created by the free radical graft polymerization of vinyl acetate onto a vinyl trimethoxysilaneactivated porous silica substrate having a native average pore size of 500 Å. The resulting membranes consisted of poly(vinyl ace...
